apt-xapian-index software package provides maintenance and search tools for a Xapian index of Debian packages, you can install in your Debian 9 (Stretch) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install apt-xapian-index
apt-xapian-index is installed in your system.
Make ensure the apt-xapian-index package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep apt-xapian-index *
You will get with apt-xapian-index package name, version, architecture and description in a table
